WEILINGER, Karl Leopold - October 22, 1921 - August 11, 2014 Our Uncle Karli a proud Austrian-Canadian (Karli, Charles) slipped away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre after living a healthy and fulfilling life to the age of 93 years. Born in Vienna, Austria he felt a deep sense of responsibility and family loyalty as the self-appointed patriarch in staying connected with family and friends both in Canada and Austria. Always a gentleman, Charles was a lover of music, travel, photography, correspondence, good health and fitness, and he will always be remembered as ready to lend a helping hand and words of advice when asked. Throughout his life Charles had a special relationship with his youngest brother Leo, with whom he spent many hours together in his final years. Charles was a pragmatist whose perspectives on life were shaped by the war years in Europe and following his arrival in Canada, was ever thankful to those who helped him begin a new life in Toronto with his beloved Herta. The friendships they developed together lasted a lifetime. He often spoke of his career with Sherwood Windows of Toronto, as he developed a lifetime relationship of mutual respect for his former employer Phil Sherwood that lasted long after his retirement and into his final days. Charles is survived by his two younger brothers Fritz Weilinger (Vienna, Austria), and his youngest brother Leo Weilinger (Inge) of Aurora, and lifetime friend Edward Kutsky of Toronto. He will always be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews here in Canada: Janis, Gary (Monique), Stephanie, Nicholas and Caroline (Peter), as well as extended family in Vienna. The Weilinger family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation and thanks to the staff at Park Place Manor in Aurora, and Southlake Regional Health Centre for their care and kindness. As per Charles' wishes, a private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be sent to Ward Funeral Home (Weston Chapel) 2035 Weston Road, Toronto, ON M9N 1X7, Phone: 416-241-4618, or www.wardfh.com, email: firstname.lastname@example.org In lieu of flowers, donations to the Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, ON would be appreciated.
