CAMERON, Ian Maitland - Unexpectedly in his 76th year at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on March 19, 2012. Loving husband to Maryaleen. Devoted, proud father and wise counselor to Russell and Leah. Dear brother of Peter (Eva) and uncle to Michael and Eva. Fondly remembered by uncle Peter Maitland and cousins in British Columbia and abroad and the countless friends to whom he extended his love and support. Predeceased by father Donald, mother Patricia (née Maitland) and brother Don. A graduate of Trinity College, Ian was a dedicated teacher (Prince Edward Collegiate, Picton; Midland Collegiate Institute and Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute, Scarborough) and lecturer (Lakehead University). Ian was President, OSSTF-ARM Chapter 12; member of CLIO book club, Veterans Against Nuclear Arms, Mordechai Vanunu Campaign and the Friends of the Toronto Public Library. Throughout his life, Ian was active in politics and latterly, housing for seniors. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of Rahier pastry shop. Cremation, followed by a private family gathering. Friends and family are warmly invited to attend a celebration of Ian's life on Thursday, March 29th at Vaughan Estate, 2075 Bayview Ave., M4N 3M5 from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. (Parking is free.) Family would appreciate commemorative donations to Friends of Canadian Broadcasting or the Evergreen Foundation.
