Claude LANE Obituary

CLAUDE MARIE LANE (nee PLOUVIER) Passed peacefully in Montreal at her residence on July 21, 2012. She was predeceased by her sister Genevieve Michelle Plouvier and will be dearly missed by her husband Barry Lane and her children Daryl Vansier (Chantal Perrier) and Gerald Vansier (Clara Vincent) both of Montreal, her granddaughter Nathalie Vansier, also of Montreal, former daughter-in-law Elizabeth Parker and an extended family in the United States, France and Great Britain, including step-daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Jeffrey Frient of Winnetka, Illinois. Claude was born in Paris and grew up in the suburb of St. Cloud with her parents Germaine and Michel Plouvier. After relocating to Montreal, she pursued a career in the fashion industry, mainly with the Robert Simpson Company and avidly embraced with energy and grace a serious participation in golf, tennis and body building, in which she participated in several events, placing second in Ontario and fifth in Canada. Eager to learn and always studious, Claude was at various times enrolled at The University of Toronto, College of Santa Fe, University of Louisville and McGill University in Montreal. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of friends at Westmount One who cared for her in an attentive and loving manner during the period of her long illness. A memorial service will be held at Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 ch de la Côte-des-Neiges, on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. Burial will be atNotre-Dame des Neiges Cemetery on Thursday, August 2, 2012. In the few years that I got to know Claude, we became good friends. I found her sincere, kind hearted and caring. I am so sorry that she had such a long illness and it is a blessing that she is now relieved of her suffering and peace is with her. These were hard times for you too Barry, take care of yourself.

Dear Barry Lane and sons of Claude!
I learnt of Claude's disapperance in July during my illness and thus abdsence from my own home in Montreal...I was away for a long time in recovery and sadly enough could not attend the funeral services earlier this month in MONTREAL. Although they have travelled away from Montreal for many many years, it is magical and also symbolic that beautiful Claude came back to die in her "Canadian Home Town". It is significant for me and I will certainly cherish her memory fondly in my mind and heart!!! In momnenbts of grief and sadness it is best to remember the good and happy events of our short lives.
May sweet Claude rest in peace for ever and ever and may the Almighty bless the entire family everywhere.
In Deep Sorrow

Sincere condolences to Lane family. It's never easy losing a dear one. I wanted to share with you these beautiful words from proverbs 25:11. "As apples of gold in silver carvings is a word spoken at the right time for it". I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts.

My sympathies to you, Barry and your family. Claude was an inspiration to all who met her. I always admired her as a fashion executive and a lady who lived her life to its fullest. My father considered her a true friend. I know she will be missed.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Claude's passing. She was a very special spark in the World. A dear friend to my parents, Sybil and Lee Schwenk. They originally met through the fashion industry, and formed a strong friendship with Claude and Barry that transcended that. Barry, my sympathies and condolences. Claude, you were a marvellous woman, and will be missed.

Peace,

John & Lisa Schwenk, Vancouver

I knew Claude through one of her sons, my best friend Gerry. She had asked me, some 30 odd years ago, if I would take her portrait and I was happy to. I'm honoured that it was chosen for her remembrance.
