GERALD STEWART P.Eng Gerald Willon Stewart of Bramalea, Ontario pass ed away on August 6, 2012. Born on June 10, 1929, Gerald experienced treasured childhood years in the hills and valleys that mark central Algoma district north of Bruce Mines, Ontario. Those years dramatically shaped the rest of his life. Beloved husband of Doris Marie (nee Phillips of Sault St. Marie) and brother to Shirley and Helen (Ron) of Blind River, Ontario. Caring father of Michael (Victoria), Bill (Sue - deceased), Ann (Gary), and Patricia (Joe). Proud grandfather of Francesca, Grant, Jessica, Megan, Christopher, Jeffery, Jonathan, Noah (Kerri Anne) and Rebekah. Gerald loved life in the northern bush - before breaking the mold and heading to Queen's University. He loved his association with the graduating class of Queen's Science '54 and he loved his life as an Engineer spent working almost entirely with the Towland/Warren Bitulithic group of companies. Following retirement Gerald redoubled his focus on "making a contribution" through 15+ years of driving for the
and committed service via Lions Clubs International. Gerald loved people. He relished people's stories - and was always ready to counter one good story with another. Whether at work, in his community or in his family - he was no respecter-of-persons. Everyone was to be treated equally and he believed every young person should be given a fair chance to improve themselves and thereafter the only measure was the effort made. A funeral service to mark Gerald's life will be held on Saturday, August 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church, 420 Balmoral Drive, Brampton, Ontario. Friends and family will be received for visitation on Friday, August 10th from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Andrew's Community Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, Ontario L6T 5N9. The Stewart family wishes to express their thanks to staff of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Brampton Civic Hospital and local palliative care teams for their care for Gerald. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
