A higher being found me today on the Go Train to show me that my Uncle Dick was gone (Toronto Star on the seat beside me). What a huge and happy and larger than life influence this man was on me and my sisters as we grew up! He taught my son Brendan to fish and was so generous of spirit with us all. Much love and best wishes for peace and joy as you find Tante Riek and my mom Carla again. Ingrid Pregel

I have so many wonderful memories of this funny, extroverted, in-love-with-life human being. He taught me to waterski and I still tell some of the jokes I learned from him as a child. I have some hilarious pictures where Maya and Teljya put carrots and celery in his ears when he visited us in Washington DC. Be at peace Oom Dick and say hello to Tante Riek and to my mom. Lots of love Astrid Pregel

dick left us with good memories from the early years in Canada. During the time when Riek and I worked together at the Bell, and our sons went to the same Victoria Park School. My sincere condolences. Riet van Duyn.

We are very sorry to have heard about the passing of "Oom Dick". Such wonderful memories of fun times when we were kids, whether camping, at the cottage, parties, or simply all our families getting together. He always brought so much life to any gathering. A lovely man who will be missed by many.
