FRED OLIVER BARNETT WWII Veteran June 26, 1922 - October 7, 2012 Peacefully at The Woodhaven, Markham. Freddy was in his 91st year. He was the beloved husband of Doris (nee Curry) for 68 wonderful years. Devoted dad to Brian ("Beave") and Bev, Mark ("Muck") and Karen. Proud Grandpa to adoring grandsons, Brooks and Brendan. Fred is survived by his sister, Betty Rose of Thunder Bay. Fred's smiles and chuckles will forever be cherished by the many nieces and nephews. "Dood" loved the great outdoors and found his calling with The Boy Scouts of Canada, as he rose through the ranks. In his younger days, he loved nothing more than to jump into his "unusual" bathing attire to show off his aquatic skills. Following his WWII service in the RCAF, Fred studied Medicine at MCGill, followed by a career in Medical Administration at a number of Toronto Hospitals. One last callout to all the Ham Radio Operators from VE3BFB 73. Brian and Mark are forever grateful for the countless trips and time spent at arenas and sports fields. He showed us the true meaning of fun and friendship through sports. The family wishes to express their thanks to devoted staff of Stouffville Creek and The Woodhaven for the superb care of Freddy. Visitation will take place at the HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME - MARKHAM CHAPEL, 10 Cachet Woods Court, Markham on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Private interment.
