My family and I went to Bishop Roman`s funeral today and it amazes me what I feel. I feel very happy that I knew him, feel that he is still here because he really is. His 4 words of comfort, after a big tragedy that hit my family 17 years ago, carry me to date. Over all these years a lot changed, he married me with my husband, he Baptised our oldest son (and my husband when he was a baby). He was one of those people that when you see him, you instantly become happy and energized. We were fortunate to live close by. I saw him on the streets walking, while doing my errands or dropping off the children or while driving them for activities. Sometimes I pulled over sometimes I didn't but I still saw him and our children got to know him. His Family invited everyone for lunch after the funeral, so we went. One of young priests that I saw for a first time said in his speech that Bishop Roman didn't sit on big chairs but he sat in people's hearts - that was my closure that I found today.

Dear Bishop Roman Danylak, I know you are at peace and in God's warm embrace but you have left us bereft. No other man was as kind, loving and spiritual as you were. You embodied and lived a truly priestly life, always acting on and sharing your love of God.
Newly arrived from London, Ontario, in 1968 to teach in Toronto, I was so very fortunate to meet Father Danylak (then) and, through all these many years he has been an exceptionally dear friend, a patient listener and teacher and a caring Confessor. He constantly exuded happiness and an inspired, fierce spirituality. I know I'm not alone in always remembering, missing and praying for him.

Sincere and deeply felt condolenses to his family on behalf of my husband, Ian, my extended family and myself. Irene McLellan

I will always remember Bishop Danylak's gentle, warm nature and his dedication to Our Lord.
He came to visit us at Santo Cristo School where I was teaching and subsequently, we all came to St. Josephat's Cathedral. Both of these events were learning experiences for all of us and filled my heart with pride as a Ukrainian!
Bishop Danylak and I corresponded during his stay in Rome and his letter brought peace to my heart.
I will also remember Bishop Danylak's kindness in taking me to St. Catharines with Deacon Joe. It was a 'fun' trip as we laughed our way through the journey. I was very fortunate to unexpectedly, attend the sub-ordination of my Uncle John Kit prior to his final ordination as deacon.
Rest in peace Bishop Danylak! You have served God well and have surely earned you rest. Vichnaya Pamyat!

Veechna Vam Pamyat', Vladyko! Over the years, we enjoyed your friendship, comaraderie, sound advice, guidance, and just being there when we needed you, be it here in Canada, or in Ukraine. You advised our friend Joseph Terelya, being his spiritual director, his family and his doings here in Canada, in Ukraine, where he is laid to rest, and throughout the world. You will be remembered for your activities.I am proud to have been a participant in a number of these undertakings, especially in Ukraine, the Vatican, U.S. and Canada.
