AUGUSTA ALVES 1930 - 2012 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Augusta Alves, beloved mother, wife and grandmother, surrounded by family in the home of her eldest daughter on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the age of 82. She will be forever loved and missed by her children and their spouses: Rose Ormsby (Paul), Belina Pavlin (Peter), Elizabeth Carswell (Terence), Tina Blais (André), Nanci Abbott (Jeff), Dale Alves (Cathy) and Gil Alves (Marika). Loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Emilie and Alexandre, Steven and David, Brooke and Aliyana. Dear sister of Paulina Alonso (Joe). Fondly remembered by all of her nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and their families, especially Aventino Alves (Ana). United now in death with her beloved mother Rosalina Torrão. Augusta (Torrão) was born in Portugal on September 11, 1930, wed in 1960 and immigrated to Canada. Together with her husband, Agripino Alves, they raised eight children to whom she was ever devoted. Prior to her devastating stroke seven years ago, Augusta led a productive life in the Sudbury area, dedicating most of her time to her family. She was a selfless giver and will be remembered for her hospitality, her gentle spirit and unwavering faith in God. Despite her hardships, she continued to laugh and handle all of her challenges with dignity, strength and courage. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her. May she rest in peace. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the entire healthcare team, particularly Dr. Dobson, Tess and Rossy, who cared for Augusta over the years with compassion and respect. Family and friends may gather to celebrate Augusta's life at the Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent St., Barrie) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church (65 Amelia St., Barrie) on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10 o'clock a.m. A reception for family and friends is planned at St. Mary's Church Hall following Mass. A private interment will take place immediately following Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Liver Foundation. Messages of condolence may also be forwarded to the family at
