JOUKO JUHANI VÄLITALO Suddenly passed away at home on November 1, 2012. A devoted family man and devout Christian, Jouko is remembered by his loving wife Helena (nee Myrskog) and children Monica, Stephen (Yvonne), Robert (Susan) and Marianne DeKort (David). Proud "pappa" of Mira, James, Hannah, Hazel, Maia and Jaana. Also remembered by his 3 brothers and 7 sisters: Linnea Sunderji (Dean), Liisa Erkkillä (Teuvo), Antti (Pirkko), Tapani, Leena Nyblom, Matti (Elaine), Laila MCLachlan (Ken), Helina Hood (John), Hilkka and Lilly. Born in Ylivieska, Finland in 1945, Jouko immigrated to Canada with his family in 1960 at the age of 14. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends for his compassionate nature and gentle soul. Visitation will be held at the ELGIN MILLS VISITATION CENTRE, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd. E., Richmond Hill (east of Leslie St., 905-737-1720), on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Dickson Hill Apostolic Lutheran Church, 70 Dickson Hill Rd., Markham, with interment and reception to follow. In keeping with his faith and immeasurable contributions to the church over the years, donations to Dickson Hill Lutheran Church are welcome in Jouko's memory.
