SLATTERY, Robert Phillip - Born October 14, 1927 - Died November 6, 2012 Robert Phillip Slattery passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on November 6, 2012. Predeceased by his loving wife Susan and survived by his daughter Paula and her husband David, his daughter Brenda and son-in-law Tanino, and his grandsons Alec and Benjamin. Also survived by his sister-in-law Shirley Stevens. Born in Montreal, Bob and his siblings Ann (deceased), Joan (deceased) and John (deceased) had a colourful childhood which eventually lead him to Ottawa. There he met and fell in love with the love of his life Susan. In his long and successful career of Purchasing in Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener and retiring as the Purchasing Director for the City of Ottawa, Bob was well respected in his field and a mentor for many. His love of history, flying, travel and sense of humour he shared with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed but remembered with much love. A special thank you to the wonderful family at Claremont Retirement Residence and to the staff at Sunnybrook who cared for Bob. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & MCGarry, 315 MCLeod St. (at O'Connor), on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Memorial donations in Robert's name can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
