WILKINS, Ross Richard - At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on December 16, 2012, Ross passed away peacefully in his 87th year. Ross is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vera May (nee Griffin), their children Wendy Smale, Cynthia Thomas, Jane Spilchen and Gordon Wilkins and their partners, seven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Ross grew up in east Toronto. He served as a prison guard in northern Ontario during WWII. He then worked for Bell Canada for 37 years before they retired to Emsdale, Ontario and the last seventeen years in Gravenhurst, Ontario. They relocated to Roseglen Village in Port Hope in June, 2012. Ross was a true sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing, canoe trips, travel in Canada and abroad and time spent at the Camp. He was a quiet, honest and caring man. He loved to create in his workshop and be outside. Mom and Dad loved their daily walks. Later in his life, he found creativity in the kitchen with cooking and baking. Ross leaves a lasting legacy to his children through his love of the outdoors. He may be gone, but his generous spirit lives on in our hearts. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Roseglen Village, CCAC and St. Elizabeth, Port Hope, the Lakeridge Cancer Centre and the Palliative team. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service.
