CLODGE, Gary - Passed away peacefully at home in Freelton on December 22, 2012 in his 75th year. Survived and missed by his loving, caring wife of 53 years, Nancy. Remembered lovingly by children Daniel (Jennifer), Stephen (Isabel) and Patricia (Paul). Proud grandfather to Bailey, Mallory, Shannon, Amanda, Nicole, Jack and Paige. Born in Toronto, Gary had a long and successful career at the Toronto Star and worked in the press room until 1998. Gary lived an active life and forged many long-term, meaningful friendships. A true family man, his strength, values and core beliefs were a shining light for the blessed generations to follow. A real testament to the success of the Ontario Trillium Gift of Life Network, Gary was the recipient of a double lung transplant at Toronto General Hospital in 2001. The courage and resiliency shown throughout his amazing journey were a tremendous inspiration to all that knew him and loved him. Special thanks to the transplant team at Toronto General Hospital and to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. "The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example." A private service will be held in Waterdown on December 27, 2012. The family will be hosting a 'Celebration of Life' in remembrance of Gary on Saturday, December 29th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Antrim Glen Clubhouse (104 Glenarm Circle, RR1 - Freelton, ON L0R 1K0).
