MONAGUE, Chief Rodney Sr. - After a long courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Simcoe, Barrie on Saturday, January 5, 2013 in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Joan Campbell. Loving father of Angela Beedie (Tim), Rodney Monague Jr. (Tricia), Derek Monague, Vance Monague (Mary), Matthew Hollins (Amanda), Luke Hollins (Darla). Cherished Papa of 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Son of the late Isobel and Albert Monague and Pat and Herman Sandy. Lovingly remembered by Evelyn Monague. Dear brother of Gerald, Karen Sylvester, Cheryl Sutherland, Ken Sandy, Glen Sandy, Graham Sandy, Donnie Sandy, Alison Sandy and predeceased by Kenny, Adeline Copegog, Bernice Blue, Faith Marsden, Elizabeth King, Vernon, John Sr., Paul Sandy, Larry Sandy, Mike Sandy, Martin Sandy and Charles Sandy. Survived by his sisters-in-law Susan Dagmar, Joanne Sandy and Iris Mixemong. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held at the Christian Island Recreation Centre on Tuesday, January 8th from 2 p.m. until time of funeral service at the Recreation Centre on Thursday, January 10th at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at the Christian Island United Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Niijji Fund, Hospice Simcoe or to the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated and will be received by the Penetanguishene Funeral Home Cremation Centre.
