HAMILTON, Sister Mary CND - (Sister St. Margaret of the Redemption) Peacefully at Providence Motherhouse, Kingston, ON, Sister Mary Hamilton of the Congregation of Notre Dame died on January 23, 2013 in her 97th year. She was the daughter of the late John Hamilton and Margaret Scanlan and is survived by her sisters, Sister Julia Hamilton SP and Sheila Alarie of Kingston and her sister-in-law Rita Hamilton of Levack, ON. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Alexander and Terence and a sister Margaret Murray. Mary will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, members of her religious community, former students and collaborators in ministry. Born in Elgin, ON, she was a lifelong educator, serving as a teacher, principal and consultant for religious education. Her ministry mainly took place in Ottawa, Toronto and Kingston. She is particularly known for writing and implementing a religious education program for developmentally challenged children. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 435 Davis Dr. (Taylor Kidd Blvd. and Centennial Dr.), on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 and from 7:00-9:00 p.m. with Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Church, 392 Palace Rd., Kingston, on January 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Rite of Committal in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston, ON.
