GULBINOWICZ, Eva Mary - Eva passed away suddenly at home at age 63 on December 5, 2012. She was predeceased by her father Wladyslaw Stachowiak, her mother Benigna and step-father John Gulbinowicz; she leaves her cousins Jan (Janek) Zebrowski in Sweden, Anna (Lula) Zebrowska and Wojciech (Wojtek) Zebrowski in Poland, as well as family members in Poland, Germany and France. Eva emigrated from Poland in 1959, grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and lived her adult life in Toronto. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario, received a Masters in Library Science from the University of Toronto and a PhD from Nova Southeastern University. She worked in the Ontario Public Service for 31 years and was about to retire as the Librarian of the Centre of Forensic Sciences. Very active in all areas of her professional, personal and spiritual life, Eva was a member of diverse communities and well known as a labour and human rights activist. She served as a steward, vice-president and president of OPSEU Local 579 and was also a hard-working campaign worker for the Ontario NDP for many years. She was active in several library associations. The arts - performing and visual and travelling extensively were among her many interests. Her many friends and colleagues will miss her friendship and her laughter and will cherish her memory. Memorials: Funeral Mass at REGIS COLLEGE CHAPEL, 100 Wellesley St. W., Toronto on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 4 p.m. Celebration of Life at the OLDER WOMEN'S NETWORK HOUSING COOPERATIVE, Main Floor Meeting Room, 115 The Esplanade, Toronto, on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2 p.m. Donations to the Tafelmusik Endowment Fund in memory of Eva Gulbinowicz (contact Michelle Yeung, 416-964-9562 ext. 240 or myeung@tafelmusik.org); donations may also be sent to the Older Women's Network "Anam Cara" fund in memory of Eva at 115 The Esplanade M5E 1Y7.
