SANDORFY, Elizabeth (Valery) (née Garai) - Elizabeth (Valery) Sandorfy (née Garai), or Bobbie to all who knew her, was born in Hosszúhetény, on the outskirts of the city of Pécs in Hungary on November 12, 1919. She worked for the United Nations in Austria during the aftermath of WWII, and eventually immigrated to Canada in 1948, settling in Toronto. There she married Leslie Sandorfi and had a son. She worked for many years as the Payroll Supervisor of Canada Building Materials, which later became St. Mary's Cement. She retired in 1984. Always active, she volunteered in North York Hospitals and served as an officer of her condominium corporation. She led a life of faith in God and Jesus Christ, which saw her through the great many changes in her life. She was an avid bridge player, an enthusiastic patron of the Toronto Symphony and the National Ballet of Canada, and a wonderful mother and Nana. She passed away on January 27, 2013 at the age of 93. She is survived by her brother, Leslie Garay, her son Andrew and his wife Juliet, and her two granddaughters Christine and Joanne. She is sorely missed! A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair Ave. E. and Victoria Park, on Wednesday, January 30 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Healthcare Foundation (firstname.lastname@example.org) or on the Pine Hills Visitation Centre website at www.etouch.ca
