Olga BATOGOWSKI Obituary

BATOGOWSKI, Olga (nee Mowchaniuk) - It is with deep sadness and sorrow the family announces the passing of Olga Batogowski (nee Mowchaniuk). She passed away peacefully at Humber River Hospital in the afternoon of Thursday, May 2, 2013 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Michael, much loved mother of Luba and Helen and her husband Roman Yarish and loving and proud grandmother of Jonathan, Andrew and Robert. Olga was born on June 28, 1921 in the village of Staromishchenna in Western Ukraine. Leaving behind her parents and family, she arrived in Canada after WWII and moved to Toronto where she met and married her husband Michael of 54 years. Olga met her challenges with determination and was devoted to taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, looking after her garden and spending time with her family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St. (east of Keele), on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m. with a Panachyda (Prayer Service) at 7 p.m. A Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Mary's (Holy Protection) Ukrainian Catholic Church (30 Leeds St., Toronto) on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Volodymyr Cemetery, Oakville. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nursing team and devoted caregivers and staff at the UCCC for their compassion and caring support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre, 60 Richview Rd., Toronto, Ontario M9A 5E4 or to the charity of your choice. Olga was my mother's cousin.We spent Christmas together.I have fond memories as a young child of Aunt Olga's wonderful dinners.
