MURRAY SINCLAIR Obituary

MURRAY MALCOLM SINCLAIR "THE ROOSTER" Died peacefully in his sleep at his Los Cabos, Mexico vacation home on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the age of 82. He will be greatly missed by his wife Mary, the love of his life of 45 years; his sisters Aldine and Carol; his children, Murray (Cara), Scott (Danelle), Craig (Nydia), Christopher, and Candice; and his grandchildren, Ella, Austin, Malcolm, Aidan, Teagan and Camille. Murray was born in Toronto on May 30, 1931 to the late Marjorie Aldine Eagen ("Mia") and Herbert Murray ("Bumpa"). Murray was an inimitable character and a true Scotsman. A licensed pyrotechnician who often tried to blow up his closest friends, he lived much like the fireworks he loved, fully and with colour, while brightening the lives of those he touched. He laughed loud, spoke his mind and took particular pleasure in a good story, a magic trick, and especially a great joke. Boundless energy, a twinkle in the eye and an indomitable optimism marked both his work and private life. As a prominent Bay Street financier, Murray was known for his entrepreneurial zeal and business acumen, relying on his singular work ethic, keen intellect and honed market instincts. He loved going to work every day and was passionate about "the deal". Believing that the best business was not conducted from behind a desk, Murray travelled widely and cultivated lasting relationships throughout his long career. When he wasn't in the office, many wonderful memories were created during his years spent at the family cottage "Birch Spring" on Lake of Bays where he taught his kids how to water-ski, snowmobile, sail and fish. Murray was an aspiring lumberjack who spent countless hours manicuring his forest for the birds and wildlife he loved. He could often be seen tearing across the lake at any given hour in one of his many speed boats with a rooster tail behind him and a bottle between his legs. Murray was as colourful and dynamic as the art he patroned and collected. As an "adorable rascal", few were immune to his infectious sense of humour and unique personal style. (How many shades of orange and purple are there?) A brilliant, generous and charismatic giant of a personality, Murray's credo was, "We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time". He lived to that end each and every day, inspiring those lucky enough to know him. He will be missed but not forgotten. A celebration of Murray's life will be held in Toronto on Thursday, May 15th at which time friends and family will be invited and encouraged to come raise a glass and share a story. Details will follow. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles Chapel Limited, Toronto, 416-487-4523. Uncle Murray,

Bravo! You lived your Credo!
...and you took us, all of us: your family, with you! Fantastic and sometimes unbelievable true stories.
How rich our lives have been together and apart.

Your physical absence will be missed, yet your spirit, presence and enthusiasm will be felt down the Dwight Bay Road and ripple across Dwight Bay to the Oxtongue and beyond.

I'll see you driving a golf cart or other such vehicle, like a tractor, from the old "Red & White" back to Birch Springs! Tinkering with toys on your dock or sharing a wondrous meal and hospitality, with family & friends. And of course! You will, likely, be barefoot, smiling and keen to share yourself (faux pas included), your wit and enthusiasm for a life well lived!

Let the FIREWORKS begin!!!
:):):)
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Lovingly yours,
Janice Hallie Angevine / von Isser

Meeting Murray at the Ruscica cottage on Lake of Bays in his bright fun pastel pants, telling many a story on the deck is a sweet memory. He will be missed.

We are so saddened by Murray's passing. The world has lost an amazing person. Lake of Bays will never be the same without Murray . He" was The Chief, the Mayor, the protector, the "go to"

guy to get it done! Always humble and "under the radar." Rest in Peace Murray. We will miss you. Scott and Andrea Cowie

He had a great love for wildlife and those who painted it. It's an honor and a privilege to have known him, laughed with him, and to have spent Muskoka time together.

My thoughts are with your at this time. Lake of Bays memories are not complete with so many of the kind, generous and spirited Mr. Sinclair. Keep those memories close and share them for years to come.

Ah, Murray - we will miss your smiling face, the twinkle in your eye, and your creative mind. I remember especially the marvelous send-off you helped give my Dad: and your trip to the ER after sending up the rocket over the lake, and the fireworks afterward...and that was only one of many stories! My sympathy to Mary, Aldine, and the rest of the family.

No cottage party really got hopping until Murray arrived -- it truly is the end of an era. My thoughts are with the Sinclair family - he will be very much missed.
