Farhang Ghomeshi Obituary
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the death of Farhang (Frank) Ghomeshi, husband, best friend and soulmate to Sara (Azar), loving and proud father to Jila and Jian and doting grandfather to Kiana, on Thursday, October 2, 2014 following a heart procedure at Sunnybrook Hospital. He was surrounded by close family in his final days and is mourned by all who had the privilege to know him.
Frank was many things: sage, charming, pragmatic and kind. He was also a truly dignified presence who became a role model as the head of a family, a well-respected engineer, a generous and compassionate soul, a proud Canadian and a member of the Iranian diaspora. He was a modest man, but a powerful presence who touched the hearts of all who had the chance to meet him. He will be dearly missed.
Following a private funeral earlier in the week, a memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Le Parc (8432 Leslie St, Thornhill).

Jian and family....I know from experience the pain of the loss you are feeling. I hope you will always remember what I know your father must have wanted for you. That is the only comfort and source of strength we can find when we lose a parent so beloved. You are going through hard times right now, but remember that these things always pass and it isn't trite to say that we learn and become better people as a result. Keep the candle burning and know you have a place in the world and in the heart of your family.

Jian - My heart goes out to you and your family. I know your heart is broken - also know you loved your father deeply and it is so sad that he had to go. You are strong - you were loved and you are loved today. Hold your father close - always close in your heart Jian.

I wanted to let you know how lovely it was to hear Jian speak so fondly of his father. It would always bring a smile to hear the stories. I wish your family much peace during this difficult time . May you keep all his memories alive and cherish your family and friends.

How fortunate your father was that his great love for his family was returned to him tenfold. I would have liked to add to his pride by telling him that I had my life changed when Jian began with CBC in the short time slot after the 8 am news - I was fifty years old and did not know that music could actually be described in words. It opened a new chapter in my life and I am forever thankful. My deep sympathy for your great loss.
