FREDERICK DOTY Obituary

FREDERICK "SCOOTER" DOTY October 25, 1924 - November 9, 2014 It is with profound sadness and unwavering faith that we announce the passing of Fred "Scooter" Doty. Surrounded by family, Fred went peacefully on November 9, 2014, at the age of 90. He is survived by Beverly Adele, his loving wife of 63 years; his sons, Tobin (wife Lisa) and Cole (wife Catherine); and his six granddaughters, Ainsley, Tory, Leighton, Chelsea, Ashton and Melanie. Fred was a lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII. After the war, he played football for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues and was a conference All-Star quarterback. He also played for Toronto Argonauts, winning two Grey Cups in 1945 and 1947. Fred graduated with a civil engineering degree and went on to become VP of Canadian Johns Manville and President of Dufferin Concrete Products. In 1951, he married his longtime sweetheart, Bev. Their love was steadfast and honest, an inspiration to those lucky enough to know them. Whenever Bev walked into the room, Fred lit up saying, "There's my girl!" When their sons arrived, all of Fred's dreams had come true. Beaming with pride, Fred would brag about them to anyone who would listen. Fred was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, friend, and Euchre partner. We will miss him everyday and will cherish his memory. But one thing is certain: the celestial football league just signed a pretty decent QB.

So sad to hear about Mr Doty. He gave us a memorable tour of his Port Credit home, and showed us pictures and told stories of his football days. All the best to your family, especially Bev.

I have fond recollections of "Mr. Doty" while Tobin and I were teammates with the Blues in the late 70s, and then many years later when reconnecting with the two of them at the MCGG member guest golf day. Always smiling, proud and positive. My sincerest condolences.

I was a big Argo fan back when he played. It;s amazing that his name rang a bell as soon as i read it. I loved to watch him play. He always gave his all. May God bless and comfort the family during this time.
