Wally was my first boss when I came to Toronto. At that time he was running a one-man architectural practice, and he was very patient with my limited drafting skills. I'll always remember our many talks over lunch, Wally always showing a great human interest and sense of humour in all of life's aspects. Later, Wally became a much valued board member of my fledgling lunchtime theatre Solar Stage. He spent countless hours organizing our promotional slide shows, and contributed greatly to the board. Wally was a wonderful man and the world is poorer without him. My thoughts are with Charlotte and his family.

I shall remember Wally's wonderful, quiet sense of humour, his great letters at Christmas which were filled with stories of his family whom he adored & his enormous contribution to Solar Stage Lunchtime Theatre. I was filled with awe at his bike-riding, his ability to mount a slide show minutes before the opening of a play & his fierce commitment to people and causes that mattered to him. The last time I saw Wally & Char was in a parking lot at Royal York. They were going to take the subway downtown to pay their respects to Jack Layton who had just died. I shall remember him with deep affection. My heartfelt condolences to Char and their family.

Wally played a huge role in the early days of Solar Stage Lunchtime Theatre. Besides his professional contributions to a struggling non-profit theatre, we also benefited from his calming demeanour and gentle (but sharp) sense of humour. Many fond memories, and deep sympathy to Charlotte and family.
