Surrounded by family and friends, in his sixty-fifth year, Americo lost his long battle with cancer in the continuing care unit of the Queensway Trillium Health Centre on December 31, 2015. Survived by his wife, Kristina, his son Andrew, his brother Andres and many cousins and extended family overseas, we are all deeply saddened but also relieved that he is no longer in pain or suffering as his five year battle was tremendously difficult. Americo leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, respect, good humour and compassion for others. He was very much loved by family and many friends.

The family would like to thank all of the incredible nurses in both the oncology and continuing care units who helped keep him comfortable, Dr. Terry Kwan, Dr. Anthony Hung, who was exceptional in his care, and the many friends and family who called, e-mailed, skyped, or visited in person throughout his last months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Trillium Health Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements to be determined at a future date but will take place at the Toronto Necropolis, 200 Winchester Street, Toronto, ON M4X 1B7.

Despite the sadness of his loss, his family takes solace in believing that when you lose someone you love, you gain an angel from above.
