Vera Korinek Obituary
July 7, 1951 – January 30, 2016
Passed away peacefully at home, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Adored wife of Jan; beloved mother of Barbara (Justin) and Matthew (Rachel); cherished grandmother ("Babi") of Jackson and Tyler; treasured daughter of Gabriela and sister of Jitka (Palo). She will be fondly remembered by her entire extended family and all of her dear friends. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and touched the lives of so many through her passion for work, sports, theatre, music and the great outdoors. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, wisdom and mischievous smile, with that ever-present twinkle in her eye. Her wonderful sense of humour and zest for life were unparalleled. Friends are welcome to gather with the family to celebrate her extraordinary life and legacy during visitation and/or memorial service at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, 2900 Kingston Road, Toronto. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The memorial service will be on Saturday, February 13th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a short reception. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Vera will remain forever in our hearts and memories.

I'm sorry to hear that Vera has left you. I played volleyball with the SLVA for 40 years so remember Vera well. Warm memories will continue to crop up to sustain you.

Vera was a wonderful, remarkable and inspirational woman and a thoughtful, loving cousin. I wish you all the happiest memories of her and I extend my sincerest condolences.

Our deepest condolences to Verka's family. She was a great listener and always knew how to cheer you up - using her great sense of humour. We feel privileged that she called us friends.

I would like to express my condolences to Vera's family. Vera was always a breath of fresh air; her smile and sweet nature made her easily approachable, and she readily jumped in to help if you needed advice or a piece of her great knowledge. Vera was a lovely woman. May she be at peace.
