I have been using "101 More Hymn stories" by Kenneth W Osbeck, as part of my devotion time every morning. I read about this remarkable man John Moore, and how he came to write Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary. It is so inspiring to know the story and man behind this wonderful song!! His life was a beautiful offering to the Jesus he loved and served! God continue to bless men and women, young and old, who sing and know this song!

We first met John when he was superintendent at the Tent Hall Glasgow in the 1950s. We also had wonderful fellowship with him and Esther when he was superintendent at Carrubbers Close Mission, Edinburgh in the early 70s. Looking forward to the Lords coming and the great reunion.

Our condolences to all of John's family. I followed John as Pastor at Willowdale Baptist but also remember attending one his evangelistic campaigns in Ireland as a child. We tried to get to the funeral today but bad roads causes us to turn back. We could not have arrived in time.

To The Moore Family: My Joyce and I initially met John and Esther in 1973-74 when we were a part of The D.L. Moody Centennial in Edinburgh at Carrubbers Close Mission. We also enjoyed a time in their lovely home. Later in Canada we appreciated his ministry in Victoria, B.C. and also Toronto, ON. We have enjoyed dear John's booklet of "New Sacred Songs For The 80's". with his personal greeting and John and Esther's company from time to time. Now they both are in glory with the Lord. Phil. 1:21. Love in Christ to your family Rev. Bob and Joyce Irvin, Fishers, Indiana, U.S.A
