PATTERSON, Allan Ross
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allan Ross Patterson on July 12, 2013 at the age of 73. Predeceased by his parents Jean and Lowery Patterson and brother Caron, Allan is survived by his wife Eunice, daughters Lisa (Darcy) Hrycuik of Rosthern, Heather (Ryan) Dzioba of Regina, son Barclay (Shannon) Patterson of Saskatoon, and his beloved grandchildren Jack and Anna Hrycuik, Abigail and Hilary Dzioba, and Bryden and Kiera Patterson. Born in Dummer, SK in 1939 and raised in Milestone, SK, Allan attended the University of Saskatchewan from 1958-62 and obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting. Allan and Eunice were married in September 1965. The family lived in Yorkton and Prince Albert where Allan worked as an Accounting Consultant for Regional Hospital Councils. While in PA, Allan founded chapters of Big Brothers and Big Sisters for the city. In 1979 the family moved to Saskatoon where Allan then worked various accounting positions. Allan was involved in the communities in which he lived and volunteered for many organizations such as Big Brothers, Jaycees, Read Saskatoon, Ten Thousand Villages, Cosmopolitan Industries, and Mennonite Clothes Closet. Allan had a love for sports and supported his children and grandchildren's many activities. Allan took pride in having established a basketball program in the Eastview neighbourhood which went on to win the city championship coached by his son Barclay. Family will remember Allan's strong faith, love of music, dry sense of humour and quick wit. The family would like to thank all of the mental health care professionals who cared for and assisted Allan throughout the years. A special thank you goes out to the staff of the Dialysis Unit at St. Paul's Hospital who bonded with Allan over the last years of his life.
