Cyril WONG

Cyril Wong
October 25, 1933 - November 16, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of Cyril Wong announce his passing at Oliver Lodge, at the age of 79. Cyril was born in Taishan, a city in the southern province of Guangdong, China. He immigrated to Canada as a young man and settled in Moose Jaw, SK where he met Theresa. Cyril fell in love with Theresa and acquired an instant family. They were married in Saskatoon in 1965. He started in the restaurant industry when he was a young man and eventually opened his first restaurant in Saskatoon (Cyril's Steak Inn). Cyril was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a strong man, dedicated to providing for his family. The restaurant was very successful and paved the way for many future business opportunities. Even though he owned multiple restaurants in Saskatoon, Cyril's main priority was always family. No matter how busy he was, he always made time to be there for everyone. When his kids were young, Cyril enjoyed taking the family on numerous camping and fishing trips. Later on Cyril enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Emma Lake with his wife and family. He loved the desert and spent a great deal of time in Las Vegas. He always said there is nothing better than packing up the car and driving down to Vegas. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Theresa; daughters, Debbie Wright (Gary), Carol Kruger (Greg) and Brenda Janzen (Warren); his grandchildren, Jeffrey Janzen (Tina), Michael Janzen (Bee), Kalen Wright, Murray Kruger (Natalie), Tara Evjen (Kyle) and Tanya Kruger. Cyril was the proud great- grandfather to Mason and Nahm Janzen and Silas Kruger. Cyril is also survived by his brother, Moon Wong (Lin) of Sydney Australia, and numerous extended family members. Cyril was predeceased by his parents, Jit Lun Wong and Jun Mah. A Celebration of Cyril's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24th, at Oliver Lodge (1405 Faulkner Crescent). Cremation interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at a later date. The family extends a sincere thank you to the staff at Oliver Lodge for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre (20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK. S7N 4H4). Arrangements in care of Sue Panattoni - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200)
