WEIR, Ingrid (nee Jastram)
Ingrid Weir, 82, passed away on March 4, 2013 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was born on March 13, 1930 in Whitewood, Saskatchewan to Frederick and Annemarie Jastram. Ingrid grew up in St. John's district south of Whitewood. She graduated from Whitewood High School in 1948. With one summer of Moose Jaw Normal School, Ingrid began her teaching career at Park-in school. Other schools were at Antelope, Lemberg, Aberdeen, and Brunskill Elementary school in Saskatoon. The rest of her teaching qualifications were earned during summer sessions at the U. of S. Ingrid married Malcolm Ross Weir in 1955 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They were happily married for 57 years. Ingrid was completely involved in the farming operation, her family's interests, and community projects. She was a member of the Aberdeen United Church and with Malcolm organized many community events and fundraisers. She loved creating a beautiful yard and lending a listening ear to anyone needing encouragement and support. Ingrid and Malcolm enjoyed their retirement in Saskatoon making a whole new set of wonderful friends in their condo complex. Ingrid's family is especially thankful for the quality care Ingrid received during her five months at Porteous Lodge. Ingrid was preceded in death by her son, Gavin Frederick, her parents, Fred and Annemarie Jastram, her brother Harry Jastram, and her sister Hilde Ruecker. Ingrid is survived by her husband Malcolm, her daughter Hilde Besic (Dubravko), grandchildren Rayleen and Amroy Besic, her brother-in-law Alfred Ruecker and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Egbert Ave., Saskatoon at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Jubilee Residences - Porteous Lodge or the Alzheimers Society. Arrangements are entrusted to MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (934-4888).
