LEONA LEWIS

LEONA MARGARET LEWIS (DEITNER)
April 26, 1926 – June 25, 2013
Leona grew up on the family farm seven miles east of Kenaston. In 1946 she started working for Sask Tel and worked in Kenaston, Davidson, Arcola and Melville. In 1949 she joined the Sisters of Providence in Kingston, ON. After two years novitiate Leona moved to Brockville, ON where she took a six month course and became a certified nursing assistant. She nursed in hospitals and nursing homes in Kingston, Montreal, Moose Jaw, Edmonton, Athabasca and Daysland. In 1978 after leaving the convent she married Wray Lewis and lived in Briercrest. When they retired they moved to Moose Jaw. Leona is predeceased by her husband Wray; parents Andrew and Annie Deitner; brothers Wilfred (Thelma), Leonard; baby sister Laverne; brother-in-law Tony Zdunich. She will be missed by brothers Vincent (Ivy) and Sanford (Rose); sisters Marie, Eveline (Victor); sisters-in-law Adeline, Helen and Marjorie; many nephews and nieces; as well as her special friend Janice. The family would like to thank the staff at Memory Lane in Pioneers Lodge for their compassionate care during Leona's last days. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday June 28, 2013 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. NW, Moose Jaw at 11:00 a.m. Father Rick Krofchek will be the Presiding Celebrant. A time of Prayers and Visitation will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday June 27, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Rouleau Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Moose Jaw Right to Life, P0 Box 1863 Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7N6. In living memory of Leona, a memorial planting will be made by W. J.
