Mary BARTSCH

Mary Bartsch
Mary was born to Peter H. and Elizabeth Dyck on March 25, 1927 in Eigenheim, SK. She was the second of seven children. She attended Horse Lake School and was baptized May 6, 1945 in the Rosenort Church in Garthland. She grew up in the Garthland area and lived there until she left to work in Saskatoon in her early 20's. On July 12, 1952, Mary married Henry Bartsch in First Mennonite Church in Saskatoon. After her marriage, her priority was raising their four children, but she also always found ways to contribute to the household by babysitting and sewing. When Mary and Henry moved to the farm north of Osler in 1977, she turned to growing a large vegetable garden, raising calves, chickens, ducks and geese. After Henry's passing in 1997, Mary reinvented and reinvigorated herself getting involved on the Warman Senior Drop-in Center Board and starting the Warman Songbirds. The Songbirds were a source of great pride and joy with the group singing at senior homes and events throughout the Valley area and recording and selling two CD's over a 10 year span. Her faith was always strong and the Church was a source of great comfort and inspiration. Mary is survived by her loving family: children Marlene Kozak (Ron), Lorna Neufeldt (John), Dan Bartsch (Sharon) and Ken Bartsch; grandchildren Jocelyn Sauvé (Quentin), David Neufeldt (Kathlyn), Cayla Hellebakken (Jan Ole), Brenna Bartsch (Mitch Eastman), Jillian Kozak, Kelsey Kozak (Jesse Doell); great grandchildren Tyson Sauvé and Rowan Eastman; sisters: Tena Karolat, Sarah Seemann (Karl); brothers: Peter Dyck and Jake Dyck; brother & sisters-in-law; John & Helen Bartsch, Frank & Mathilda Bartsch; sisters-in-law: Alice Wapple, Hilda (Ben Harder), Linda Bartsch; brother-in-law: Jake Derksen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
