Florence Alice Summach
September 21, 1917 – August 21, 2017
We are saddened at the passing of our dear mother, Florence Alice Summach, nee Norris on August 21, 2017 – one month shy of her 100th birthday. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Wayne Summach, (Phyllis), daughter Faye Reynolds (Stephen); grandchildren Gary Summach, (Kathryn) Dean Summach, Steffi Reynolds, Teddi Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Preston, Kingston and Theo; and her remaining sister, Eva Smith. Florence was predeceased by her dear husband, Ted Summach and several siblings. Born on September 21, 1917, Florence grew up on a farm near Broadacres, SK with four sisters and 2 brothers. She proudly accomplished her grade 12 schooling in Biggar and then attended the Saskatoon Business College where upon completion she began work for the Buckwold family. She met and later married Ted Summach in June of 1951 and shared 35 loving years together before Ted's passing due to cancer. The light in her eyes was never quite as bright without the love of her life, but she devoted the next 30 years to doting on her grandchildren and serving her Lord at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Florence loved to sing in the choir, beginning in her first years in Saskatoon at Grace United and then at Emmanuel. She was a faithful member of her mission circle and was generous in her support of mission and ministry. Mom was a gentle, quiet spirit who shunned the limelight but quietly served her family, friends and most of all, her Lord. Though we will miss her dearly, we are left wrapped in the warmth of her many handmade afghans and our treasured memories of a life well-lived. A service in her honour will be held on Friday, August 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, corner of Taylor and Acadia.
