It is with sorrow that the family announces Alban's passing on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the age of 91 years 8 months. Alban was born and grew up on the family farm at Ardath, SK. He proudly served his country during World War II. Alban worked various jobs in order to achieve his dream and own a farm. He married Phyllis LaClare on September 30, 1947. He and Phyllis farmed near Conquest until they retired in 1987, sold the farm, and bought a house in Outlook, SK. Never one to be idle, Alban maintained the house and yard – including a very productive garden - until 2011 when Alban and Phyllis moved to St. Ann's Place in Saskatoon. Dad was a man of deep faith and few words. He was always willing to lend his neighbours a hand but reluctant to ask for help for himself. Alban was predeceased by his father, Hilaire; his mother, Rosa (nee Bertrand); eleven siblings; his daughter Yvonne Somerville; and his grandson Jody Somerville. He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Phyllis; daughters Paulette (Joel) Mierau, Claire (Earl) Hanson, Irene Deschamps, Marie Reed (Larry Hume), Lorraine (Dave) Coldham, Michelle Deschamps (Darren Brumwell) and Terri (Brad) Akins; son, Raymond Deschamps; son-in-law, Arnold Somerville; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandsons; sister, Grace Provo and many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann's Chapel, 2910 Louise St. Saskatoon, SK. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Ann's Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, St. Paul's Hospital, 1702 20 St. West, Saskatoon, SK. Arrangements are in care of the Outlook Funeral Chapel 306 867-8255.
