With deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothy Cass, after a short stay at St. Paul's Hospital for treatment of pneumonia. Dorothy was born in South Shields, England to Edna and Ernest Graham. She married John Jenson Cass on November 11, 1950 and they immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Saskatoon where she remained for the rest of her life. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1993 and her long-time companion, Bob Jones, on this past December 28th. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Randy) Rodger and her granddaughter, Jocelyn Campbell (Patrick). She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Bill (Courtney) Graham and his three children and six grandchildren as well as her niece, Marilyn (John) Craven and family, all living in England.
Dorothy was a member of St. James Anglican Church from 1953 until her passing demonstrating a deep commitment to many aspects of parish life. She worked at the University of Saskatchewan from 1966 until 1987 in computational sciences and the parking office. Dorothy was devoted to her family and attended all of Jocelyn's events. "Granny Dot" could be volunteered for anything. Keeping up with the latest fashions and maintaining an immaculate appearance were ongoing themes in Dorothy's life. Her cooking was outstanding and she fed her family many wonderful meals in her lovely home. She possessed an acute sense of colour and shade. Playing bridge in many different groups was one of her favourite activities along with watching tennis on T.V. at all hours of the day and night.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ghoorah for providing care and compassion along with a devoted team of nurses.
A small memorial service for family and close friends will be held in the Columbarium at St. John's, 816 Spadina Cr. E., 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8th.
