Evelyn Marion Adams (Thain) July 20th, 1932 August 10th, 2011 Evelyn passed peacefully with her sons by her side at the Luther Special Care Home last Wednesday evening. Evelyn was a dedicated wife and mother and will be missed by her three sons, Clinton (Karen), Dwight (Leslie) and Gregory; her five grandchildren, Megan, Jordan, Kalyn, Ashley and Dillon; and her brother, Alan Thain. Evelyn was predeceased by Clifford, her husband of 58 years; her sister, Barbara; and her parents, Joseph and Florence Thain. Evelyn was born and raised in Saskatoon, grew up in the North Park neighborhood and attended City Park High School. After high school she ventured to Kerrobert, where she met Clifford. They farmed together in nearby Major for many years, eventually moving back to Saskatoon to raise a family, continuing to farm long distance and run various businesses. Among the many things that Evelyn enjoyed in addition to raising a family and supporting her husband on the farm and in business was her participation in the Saskatoon curling community. She served as the President of the Exhibition Curling Club and enjoyed the politics as much as the game. Evelyn, Cliff and the boys also spent many summers at Emma Lake between spring seeding and harvest and time at the lake was very special to them in their later years. In recent years, Evelyn was cared for by the compassionate staff of the Luther Special Care Home for which the family is eternally grateful. Nobody loved Saskatoon more than Evelyn. Her love for the city was engrained at an early age by her father Joe, a civic leader, union organizer and a staunch supporter of Saskatoon and Saskatchewan. Evelyn was very proud of Daddy and the city he helped to shape. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Luther Special Care Home Auditorium, 3rd Floor (1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon) with Pastor Heather Anderson officiating. Interment will take place in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family would be honored if memorial donations were made to the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation (701 Queen Street, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 0M7), a very special place for both Evelyn and her father Joe.
