EVELYN LANG (Steinhauer, Heinen)
June 3, 1929 ~ March 6, 2013
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Holdfast, SK into the Steinhauer family of seven, four brothers and three sisters, Evelyn being the youngest. Evelyn's mom passed away when she was nine months old. She was passed around amongst relatives for the next nine months. She was then accepted into the home of the Joseph Heinen family and taken care of by the oldest daughter, Della Heinen. At the age of eleven the Heinen family adopted her into their family of seven. After receiving her education in Aylesbury, she worked for SaskTel until her marriage to Joseph Lang on October 7, 1947. They moved to Nipawin in 1948, and moved to Lloydminster five years later, then on to North Battleford and into Saskatoon in 1966, due to Joe's position. Joe and Evelyn had five children, three girls, Joanne (Allan), Donna (Bruce), Debra (Kerry) and two boys, Rick (Rose), Ron (Grace); thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Evelyn was very dedicated to her family and was a full time homemaker. Her favourite pastime was playing cards, especially bridge with her friends. Vigil for Evelyn will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 11. Both services will be held at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church (217 Lenore Drive). A Private Cremation Committal will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evelyn's favourite charity, the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
