Frances Gwendolyn King (nee Ryde)
July 31, 1916 - November 8, 2012
Frances was more than her title of Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma (GG), or dear friend. She was a versatile, feisty, opinionated, intelligent, independent, hardworking, family-oriented Christian. A businesswoman, with a dynamic personality, who was personally thrifty but generous with others, a one-of-a-kind… and we loved her very much.
Born in the Eston area, she later moved to Lloydminster with her husband. In the early 50s, they relocated to Wilkie, where they enjoyed many wonderful times and opened two businesses. In her later years, Frances moved to Saskatoon to be closer to family. She passed away on November 8th, 2012 at RUH Hospital with her daughter by her side.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Henry (Hank) King on October 4th, 1996. She is survived by her children, Doug King (Mary), Dena Miller Racicot (Laurie) and her special grandchildren, Denton, Kelsea, Dalen, Trevor, and Erin, as well as her step-granddaughters, Tamara, Jorie and Kaitha and all their families. She was a very special GG to Madeleine Frances and Zurie Dena.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan (279-3rd Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all who shared in her life. A Celebration of Frances's life will be held on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Road). Online condolences may be sent from Arrangements entrusted to Sten Olesen.
