Freda Christina Mitzel (Hartz)
November 14, 1922 - January 5, 2013
Freda Mitzel, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend died unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 5, 2013. Freda was a loving and kind woman who always put the needs of her family and friends first. She was a busy wife, devoted mother, and remarkable business woman, owning and operating her own beauty salon business and managing the Renatta Wig store for many years. At the same time, she maintained a warm and loving home for her husband and three children. She was an inspiration, known for her welcoming hospitality, genuine warmth and caring personality. This past November Freda was surrounded by loving friends and family members who joined her in celebration of her 90th birthday. She was delighted by the large number of people who braved a Saskatchewan winter storm to bring her their best wishes and hugs. She cherished the many good wishes and cards she received, and reread them frequently. Freda was the last of her generation. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John Mitzel in 1999. She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family: daughter, Rita (Greg) Seipp; sons, Larry (Jill Beatty) and Jim (Holly); grandchildren, Trevor (Denise) Seipp; Tara (Darwin) Redlick; Yardley; Calley, Bailey, Hollynd Mitzel; step grandchildren, Rachel; Andrew and David Johnson; great-grandchild, Emily Seipp; step great grandchildren, Connor, Carter, Cailey; and Isaac Johnson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Vigil for Freda will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 10. Both services will be held at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church (217 Lenore Drive). In lieu of flowers, donations in Freda's memory will be gratefully received by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Saskatchewan, LutherCare Foundation or a charity of your choice.
