Gertrude 'Trudy' Sophia Duncan
February 13, 1936 – June 26, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Trudy Duncan announces her passing on June 26, 2013 at the RUH Oncology Unit.
Trudy was born on a farm in Glenbush, SK, and was the oldest of 3 children to Henry and Sophia Zimmer. She left the farm at the age of 18 to work in Delisle where she met John Duncan and they were married on July 6, 1957. They settled in Saskatoon where they raised 3 children.
Trudy loved and took great pride in her flower garden. She enjoyed camping trips with the kids when they were little, travels to B.C. with Bob and Louise. One of her favorite travel destinations was Hawaii. Her and dad made 3 trips all with family when they were in their 70's.
Above all, Trudy cherished her family. She was a loving wife of 56 years, a great mom and an absolutely wonderful granny. She loved to bake for her family and there were always treats on hand when you came to her house. She took and sorted endless pictures into beautiful photo albums.
Trudy is survived by her husband John, her children and grandchildren; Sherry (Bob)- Erin (Dan) & Lindsay of Saskatoon, Laurie (Mark) -Abby of Edmonton, Jeff (Mary-Lou) -Ashley & Madison of Edmonton. She leaves behind her brother Bob, numerous nieces and nephews, many cousins and many close friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Vic and dear sister-in-law, Louise.
The Memorial Service will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 627 Taylor St. E. (S7H 1V9) at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2nd, followed immediately by a tea and celebration in the church basement. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the RUH Foundation c/o Unit 6100, 103 Hospital Dr. Saskatoon, S7N OW8.
