Gordon Lionel Blyth
1929 – 2013
Gordon passed peacefully on December 30, 2013 following complications from Parkinson's disease. Gordon was born at Dafoe, SK, where he lived until moving to Saskatoon in 1951. Shortly after, he met his future wife, Florence Nelson and they were married July 12, 1952. To their marriage, one daughter, Janice was born. Gordon was employed with Dept. of National Defence, Bristol Aerospace and spent the majority of his career at SIAST – Kelsey Campus. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, time at the cabin at Redberry Lake and attending his grandchildren's activities and time with family and friends. Gordon is predeceased by his wife Florence, parents Ronald and Myrtle Blyth, siblings Helen (Ivan) Weimer, Bob Blyth, Doreen Harrison, in-laws Nels and Esther Nelson, Bertha (Ottar) Sletmoen, Sophie (George) Alisch and Edith (Norman) Skaros. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Janice (Brad) Neabel; grandchildren James (Kayla Kostuik) and Esther (Steven) Indzeoski; brother Jack (Joanna) Blyth, brother-in-law Dale Harrison and nieces and nephews. The family appreciates the special care received from Dr. A. Harrington, and staff from Porteous Lodge, Samaritan Place and 5th Medicine, St. Paul's Hospital. Memorial donations in Gordon's name may be made to Parkinson's Society of Saskatchewan (610 Duchess St., Saskatoon, SK S7K 0R1). A Celebration of Gordon's Life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd). Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Charmaine Menard.
