Ida Baillod 1914 2010 The family of Ida Baillod is saddened to announce her passing at the age of 96 years. On September 25, 1914 Ida Barker was born of homesteading parents east of Saskatoon. As a child she was interested in sports and helping out with the many kitchen tasks around the house. She often spoke of the work involved when she, her mother and her two sisters prepared three meals a day for the hungry thrashers. Ida eventually moved to Saskatoon and, as a young woman, began working at Eaton's department store. It was at Eaton's that she met and married Harvey Baillod. She worked on and off at Eaton's while they raised their three children Cam (Barbara), Deed (Richardo) de Fernandez (Guadalajara, Mexico) and Karen (Bob) Buckle (Calgary) eventually "retiring " at the age of 70. Ida was a tireless individual keeping herself constantly busy. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Ida and Harvey built four homes in the time that they were together. She especially enjoyed her time at Blackstrap Lake. She and Harvey were blessed with grandchildren Tara, Alanna, Aiden and Danielle as well as great granddaughter, Nina. Harvey passed away in 1998. At the age of 90 Ida reluctantly left her home and moved to the Palisades. It was at the Palisades that she met and befriended many fine residents and staff who kept her days busy and fulfilled. Luckily, when the time came that she required more assistance, she was able to move into Palisades `Intermediate Care'. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Palisades for their thorough and compassionate care over the last 2 1/2 years. Eventually old age and Alzheimer's got the best of Ida and she passed away peacefully in the Transitional Care Unit at City Hospital on Friday, October 8, 2010. Ida was predeceased by her three brothers Reginald, Henry and George. Her two sisters Myrtle Camp and Jean Tiffin still reside in Saskatoon. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Park Funeral (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon), officiated by Pastor Marvin Mountney. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. To send online condolences to the family, visit www.parkfuneral.ca . Arrangements entrusted to Lynn Constantinoff
