JOHN (Jack) DIXON BLACK John passed away peacefully Monday, August 9th at the age of 85 years. A celebration of John's life will be held on Friday, August 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest, Funeral Home with a companion burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. John is survived by two sons, Doug (Terry) and Kelly (Gillian); grandsons Wesley, Darcy, Austin and Graham; and sister Kathleen (Don). John was predeceased by his parents John and Edith and his wife Helen (Sawchuk). Dad was born in Kenaston and farmed the family farm in the Kenaston area until his early twenties. He moved to Saskatoon to drive taxi. At a community dance Dad met Helen and three years later they were married. Dad drove many types of vehicles; gasoline tankers, car transport carriers (104 trips to Oshawa) and gravel trucks. He drove bus for the City of Saskatoon Transit and Greyhound Bus Lines. Dad retired in 1988 after driving bus for STC for 30 years (1,000,000 mile safe driving award). In the 70's he started a very successful excavating business which allowed Mom and Dad to RV to Arizona in their retirement years. Dad will be remembered for sharing his love for singing and playing the guitar at many house and deck parties. Dad had a wonderful life and he will be missed. Donations can be made to the Sherbrooke Community Center in lieu of flowers.
