July 17, 1931 - January 5, 2013
Joseph Steven Bakos passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 5. Joe was born in Hughton, SK and during his lifetime worked for the railroad, at the Department of Highways; in real estate; as an orderly at RUH and as a truck driver and welder at Westeel. Joe was a talented wood worker and he loved his shop. He would never miss an opportunity to meet new people and always had an extra joke to tell to anyone who had time to listen. Joe would look forward to having coffee with his friends every day at McDonalds and will be missed by many who would look forward to his quick wit and big smile. Joe married Cleora (nee Elliott) of Whitefox, 50 years ago on July 14, 1962. He is survived by his wife Cleora; sons, Boyd, Brian (Melisa), Jamie (Michele) and two grandsons, Seth and Zachary, all of Saskatoon. Also surviving are his sisters, Elizabeth Bakos of Watrous, Margaret Ponak of Hanley; sisters- in-law, Elaine Chometsky of Saskatoon, Arlene Wingert of Nipawin and Iris (Herb) Nelson of Leaf Rapids, MB. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Bakos and sister, Mary Bardi of Elrose. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at the RUH and City Hospital, as well as the staff at Porteous Lodge where he received such good care. There will be no funeral at this time, but family and friends will gather to remember him on January 12, 2013. Please RSVP to email Arrangements in care of MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
