They celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary January 12, just days before being admitted to St. Paul's Hospital and then two weeks later to Royal University Hospital and finally back to St. Paul's Hospital for a total of 96 days in the hospital fighting a battle with cancer, which was not to be won. She spent a few weeks at home where Derek did all that was humanly possible for his love. Kari worked at Vecima for many years and moved to Cameco one year ago where she made many wonderful friends.
