Larry Keith Hesje
December 28, 1946 - May 18, 2013
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandfather on May 18, 2013 at the age of 66. Larry will forever be loved by his wife of 36 years, Janice; daughters, Brenda Hesje and Leanne (Scott) Wickenden; granddaughters, Hannah and Kate Wickenden; mother, Geneve Hesje; brothers, Art (Linda), Mark (Cindy), Grant (Joy); sisters, Glenda Caughlin (Jim), Dorothy Pinno (Al), Elaine Comfort (Ted); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Kaari Hesje; mother-in-law, Phyllis Pich; father-in-law, Frank Pich; and infant brother, Gerald. Larry was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, on December 28, 1946, the eldest child of Kaari and Geneve Hesje. He spent his early years being very active on the farm near Crooked River with his father. He received his education in Crooked River, Tisdale, LCBI Outlook, and his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Larry had a love for sports, especially hockey. He played goal for the Tisdale Ramblers. Larry met Janice when she moved to Tisdale to teach elementary school. They married in 1976 and farmed for a few years before moving to Saskatoon. They had two daughters, Leanne and Brenda, who were the center of his life. He took great pride in coaching their ball teams and never missed a game or any other activity they were involved in. Larry cherished and adored his granddaughters Hannah and Kate. He was always quick to show the most recent picture of his girls and was more than happy to share the latest milestones in their lives. Beyond family, Larry's other great passion was working for Vector Construction for nearly 25 years. He was a dedicated, hard worker who enjoyed going to work everyday for a great company with amazing co-workers. He was fortunate to spend his last year working with the Florida division. This allowed him to mix business with pleasure as Jan was able to join him and they toured many areas of Florida. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, officiated by Pastor Harold Hesje. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens will follow. To send online condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca "Obituaries & Tributes." Arrangements entrusted to Greg Lalach, Park Funeral Chapel, 306-244-2103.
