During his youth he and his family moved to Manchester, New Hampshire where he attended school and worked after school at a hosiery factory during WWII. He would proudly state that they shipped hosiery to actor Eddie Cantor's wife. He and his family returned to Saskatchewan to live on the farm in Delmas and he completed his grade 8 schooling at Tulip School (Delmas). He continued working on various farms for family and friends. He returned to Saskatchewan only to leave again and go with his best friend Henry Deslauriers to work in Grand Prairie, Alberta in a bush camp, logging. During the winter he worked and saved enough money to buy his own land. He moved to North Battleford and worked as a salesman delivering bread for Canadian Bakeries (4X). In 1960 he transferred to Saskatoon for McGavin's Bakery where he met his beloved wife Anna. They were married in 1962 and together raised three sons, Bruce, Murray and Robert. Lawrence worked for McGavin's for thirty-eight years and retired at age 63. Lawrence enjoyed life and lived each day to the fullest. He enjoyed gardening, travelling with Anna and entertaining friends and family at his home. You were always sure to receive great hospitality and a good laugh when you had a visit with Lawrence.
