LORETTE BITZ
It is with sadness, that Lorette's family announce her death on Tuesday, March 5 at the age of 84. Mom was born on August 10, 1928, the eldest child of Wilfrid and Julia (nee Riordan) Fleury. She was raised on the family farm in the Blackley District in rural Saskatoon. She completed her high school education at Sion Academy for Girls, a special time and experience in her life. After attending Normal School, Mom embarked on her teaching career that took her to Mildred, SK and subsequently to Allan. It was there that she met our Dad and they married on October 15, 1949. Together, they farmed, raised their family and opened their hearts and home to family, friends and the community over the years. Faith and family have always been paramount throughout Mom's life. She supported, encouraged and applauded any and all of the efforts and accomplishments made by her children and grandchildren. Education was important and valued by Mom. She was active with Home and School and was instrumental in establishing the first Kindergarten in Allan. She has always been engaged with her faith community, St. Aloysius Parish in Allan and here, at Holy Spirit Parish. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Women's League. Lorette is predeceased by her husband, Ronald David Bitz; her parents, Wilfrid and Julia Fleury; and infant brother Charles, at birth. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Gail (John) Ciona and their family, Trevor (Curtis Elmy), Shaun (Melissa), Rhonda (Daryl Tuccaro); Eileen (Mark) Denomy; Heather Anne (Scott) Ross and their family, Sarah (Jason) Carrier and Evan (Desiree) Lewicki; Lyle (Jackie) Bitz and their family, Sydni and Blake. Mom also leaves her precious great grandchildren in whom she delighted, Isabella Ciona, Lily Tuccaro, Tye and Kale Carrier and Lynkyn Lewicki. Lorette will also be greatly missed by her siblings, Stella (Ken deceased) McIntosh, Harry (Arlene) Fleury, Carole (Tony) Boryski, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Lorette's family wish to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Stensrud Lodge caregivers and to Dr. Tymchak for the care and kindness shown Mom. Vigil for Lorette will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8th and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th with Reverend Father Ken Beck as the celebrant. Both services are at Holy Spirit Parish, (114 Kingsmere Place). If friends desire, donations may be made to Mom's special charities, Friendship Inn or the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
