MERLIN, Mary Jane
Mary Jane Merlin passed away peacefully at her home in Saskatoon on November 28, 2012 just prior to her 84th birthday.
Jane is survived by her four children and their families: Kate (Mark) Hanson of Riverview, New Brunswick (Margaret, Jennifer ,Brian); Anne-Marie (Tom) Graham of Saskatoon (Sarah, Robert, Emmett); James (Andrea) Merlin of Markham, Ontario (Reanna, Jasmine) and Michael Merlin of Ottawa and her brother Philip White(Margaret), Owen Sound, ON. Jane was predeceased by Hank Merlin her remarkable and loving husband of 43 years in 1999.
Jane was born on December 9, 1928 and raised in Toronto. She graduated from the University of Toronto and worked for several years as a dietitian . In 1957, she and Hank were married in Toronto. The family resided in Toronto, Deep River and Ottawa ON. Jane moved to Saskatoon in 2008, developing many new and vital friendships in and around Riverside Terrace where she resided.
Jane was a strong woman of faith. Upon moving to Saskatoon, she found a spiritual home among the welcoming priests at the Mazenod Residence. She loved to sing barbershop and spent many years as a member of the Capital Chordettes in Ottawa. Involvement in this group took her to various competitions, many of them international in scope. She continued singing with the Merry Misfits here in Saskatoon. Jane had a passion for archaeology and paleontology. This interest manifested itself in a volunteer position for over 25 years at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa.
Jane took great pride in her children and grandchildren and was a fabulous mother and grandmother. She and Hank loved the adventure of travel together, exploring the Arctic and Antarctica in successive years and many points in between.
Jane, yours was a life well lived, a life worth celebrating, but we will still miss you.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Parish (217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon) with Father Paquin presiding.
