The passing of Merle Shannon age 75 years of Saskatoon occurred at his residence. Merle is survived by three brothers Ted Slone of Toronto, ON, Terry (Gladys) Sloboda of Saskatoon and Albert (Iris) Sloboda of Saskatoon; his sister-in-law Jean Slone of Toronto, ON and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents George and Phyllis (Buchinski) Sloboda, two sisters Eva Federko and Pauline Shawaga and by two brothers Sylvester Slone and Carl Slone. Merle had a career as a language arts teacher which spanned a total of thirty-five years. After retirement in 1993, his projects were re-styling condominiums and he remodeled a total of 12 different homes. Merle loved travelling and spent several summers at his favorite resort, Lake Tahoe and four winters spent in Honolulu. Prayers will be held on Thursday evening, November 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. from Park Funeral Chapel, 311-3rd. Ave. North, Saskatoon. The Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1202 Munroe Ave., Saskatoon celebrated by the Redemptorist Fathers.
