Paul Oliver Genereux
September 20, 1927 – April 13, 2014
Paul passed away peacefully at Extendicare on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Darlene; three children, Gordon (Coralie), Marilyn (Ken) Forester, and Ronald (Paula); eight grandchildren, Nathan and Marina Forester, Jennifer (Dwayne) Melcher, Pamela, Robert, Kimberley, Alexis and Kristin Genereux; one great-granddaughter, Kenzie Melcher; four sisters-in-law, Lil, Mabel and Olive Genereux, and Hazel Campbell; one brother-in-law, Howard Ponto; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Rosalie Genereux; seven brothers, George, Emile, Henry, Alex, Philip, Fred and Jim; four sisters, Gertrude Kirk, Rachel Bowers, Dorothy Ferrier, and Rosamond Radford; five brothers-in-law, Charles Kirk, Joe Bowers, Doug Ferrier, Bill Radford, and John Campbell; five sisters-in- law, Lille, Lill, Marj and Janet Genereux, and Lucille Ponto. Paul was born and raised on the family farm 20 miles South of Saskatoon on the "French Flats" West of Dundurn, SK. Paul farmed with his brother on the French Flats before working as journeyman electrician for Gerbrandt Electric in Saskatoon for over 35 years. After retiring, Paul spent much of his time outdoors, golfing, curling and gardening; he also enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Paul was extremely proud of his family and all of their achievements. After Paul's health failed, he spent his last 2 years in Extendicare. His family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff for the care and kindness he received there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. A Service of Celebration in Paul's memory will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Windsor Chapel, 704 Windsor St (8th Ave N. & Windsor St - wheelchair accessible). Presiding will be Elaine Presnell. Family and friends are welcome to attend the interment prior to the celebration of his life at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens (please meet at the first entrance to Hillcrest).
