Gilbertson Pearl Hazel (Weber) Gilbertson passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer, at St. Paul's Hospital in Palliative Care, on February 6, 2012 at the young age of 74 years. Pearl was born in Delisle, Saskatchewan on November 27, 1937 to John and Wilma Weber. Pearl was the youngest of eight siblings. Pearl took all of her schooling in Delisle. On October 12, 1957 she was married to Marvin Gilbertson, in Scarborough, Ontario. They had their first born, a daughter, Merna Jean in Scarborough and shortly thereafter moved back to their roots, Saskatoon, Sask. In 1961, they had their second daughter, Gwen Ellen. Then in 1964, their third child was born, a son, Gerald David. After 13 years living in Saskatoon, 1971 seen Pearl and Marvin buy their first hotel in Meath Park, Saskatchewan. Many new lifelong friends were made. In 1974 Pearl and Marvin bought The Prairie Trail Hotel or (PT), in Kindersley, Sask. Pearl was very active in Kindersley with bowling, curling and belonging to the Royal Purple Ladies Auxiliary. Always helping with whatever the kids were involved with at school. In 1981, Pearl and Marvin moved to Swift Current where they bought their third hotel, The Imperial Hotel, (Big I). They had a very active country orientated hotel in Swift Current and it was thee place to go. They featured many country names and Pearl enjoyed meeting them all. She was still very active In bowling and ended up at provincial roll-offs in Red Deer winning a bronze medal for her category. 2000, seen Pearl and Marvin move to Saskatoon and soon to retire to Vanscoy, Saskatchewan, where Pearl lived and stayed active playing cards and being involved in the Vanscoy Senior Center until her passing. Pearl was a very avid Saskatchewan Rough Rider football fan and loved going to the Grey Cup which was how she spent a few birthday's. She was also a huge Toronto Maple Leaf hockey fan. Her greatest love was watching he grandchildren in all of their sporting events, school functions and just camping, playing cards and hanging out with them. She dearly loved all of the family reunions, on both sides of the family, being able to get together with her family. Pearls greatest passion was working in her garden or caring for her house plants. She had a green thumb like no other. Her garden was always immaculate and flowers, especially her gladiolas, were beautiful. Pearl treasured all of her dearest friends that she has made through all of her journeys. Pearls most treasured gift in her life was her first great grandchild, born in July 2011. Miss Ainsley Grace Carey. Pearl is lovingly remembered by her husband, Marvin. Daughter, Merna (Randy) Boychuk. Daughter, Gwen Gilbertson. Son, Gerald Gilbertson. Grandsons and Granddaughters, Russell (Kristie) Boychuk, Lindsay (Russel) Carey, Alicia Maguire. Tina Braybrook, Dale Braybrook and Great Granddaughter, Ainsely Carey. Brothers and sisters, Joyce (Ted) Weber, Ruby (Ed) Borix, Dorothy (Barry) Dolan, Leona (George) Teed, Verna (Will special friend) Bentley, Hubert (Elinor special friend) Weber, Gordon (Vi) Weber. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Merle (Isabell) Gilbertson, Lorne (Cathy) Gilbertson. Many nieces and nephews. Pearl is predeceased by Wilma Weber (mother), John Weber (father), Edward (Ted) Weber (brother), Jack Bentley (brother in-law), Issabell Gilbertson (Mother in-law), Arnold Gilbertson (Father in-law), Donna Gilbertson (sister in-law). Memorial service to be held at the Delisle United Church, Delisle, Sask. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Luncheon to follow at the Delisle Seniors Center. Interment to be at a later date. Cremation arrangements are in care of Mourning Glory Funeral Services, Saskatoon, Sask.

Dear Uncle Marvin, Merna, Gwen and Gerald. I am so sorry I was not able to get back home for Auntie Pearl's service. I am very thankful for the visit at Christmas time. My heart goes out to you during this time. May Auntie Pearl find Peace after such a battle. She was a beautiful lady and a kindred spirit. I will miss and love her. Love Marilyn

Just remembering what a loving mom and good listener Pearl was for many of us. I loved her cream of celery soup,mmmm.
