Cranch, Robert James Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness with his family by his side at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on March 8th, 2012, in his 86th year, Robert Cranch of Long Sault, ON, formerly of Colonsay, SK. Beloved husband for 63 years to Mary (nee Nugent) Cranch. Cherished father of Robert (Lynn) of Brampton, ON, Colleen of Kitchener, ON, and Mark (Laurie) of Portland, OR, U.S.A. Will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Nick, Amy, Ellen, Eva and Claire. Survived by sister Norma Nugent and brother Kenneth (Pearl) Cranch. Predeceased by parents Sidney and Ellen (nee Williams) Cranch, brothers Sidney Hancock and Keith Cranch, and sisters Joyce Cranch and Edna Grundy. Will be sadly missed by many relatives, neighbours and friends. Bob was an employee with Canadian Pacific Railway for 43 years, and a representative and General Secretary for the Brotherhood of Railway and Airline Clerks for 25 years. Cremation. A memorial visitation will be held at Brownlee Funeral Home, MacDougall Chapel & Reception Centre, 14815 County Rd. 2, Ingleside, ON, K0C 1M0 on Monday March 12th from 10 to 10:45 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. Rev. Stephen Silverthorne officiating. An inurnment will take place at Brampton Memorial Gardens, Brampton, ON, at a later date. For those wishing, donations to either the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer's Society would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
